Tim Cronin inspired Winston Salem Wolfhounds. It was a well organized
event with our hosts as warm and welcoming off the field as they are
tenacious competitors on the field. Raleigh footballers did win the game
but the result was less important than the fact that so many players got
to see gametime in an early part of our GAA season.
There were great performances and standouts moments from many individuals.
Sean Andrasik, Torgo, Patrick and Todd all played in their first
competitive game for our club. Experienced heads Graham Fordham, Pete
Thompson, Dara O’hAnnaidh, Sven Johnson, Pete Capozziello and Ciaran
Harris were a calm presence thoughout. Stephan Byrne and Colin Keenan
blossomed in their midfield and centre back roles respectively, Nelson
Santos, Joe Nett and Sarah Mills added some steel to the defensive unit
while in the attack Robbie Huggins (penalty taker extraordinaire), Ann
Scheunemann, Conor Ennis, and Nick Holmes were a constant scoring threat
to the opposition goal.
