Saturday, June 15, the club hosted the 6th Annual Thomas Burke Cup, for the first time on Miller Field at NC State University. Raleigh’s two panels met teams from Charleston and Greenville, SC and Richmond and Coastal VA. The round-robin format saw aggressive and skilled play in all seven matches. By mid-June standards the day was gorgeous with highs in the low 80’s, full sun, humidity in check and spirits high.

- G1: Raleigh topped COVA 4-06 to 1-09
- G2: Charleston took down Greenville in their divisional game 5-09 to 2-07
- G3: Richmond beat COVA 4-03 to 1-09
- G4: Greenville bested Richmond/Raleigh combined 6-06 to 0-03
- G5: Raleigh over Richmond 7-08 to 1-12
- G6: Charleston took Richmond/Raleigh combined
- Final: Raleigh over Charleston 4-11 to 2-05
The cup stays in Raleigh for one more year. Huge appreciation goes out to our hurling manager Larre Reeves and our coach/keeper Richie Finnegan for keeping us organized and focused on the task at hand. Thanks to the traveling teams for making the trip and providing solid opponents on the day. A huge thanks to all the volunteers that sacrificed to make the tournament a success, Finbar, Monica, Valerie, Sarah and our national anthem singers Dubliner Margaret Rush and Finbar’s daughter Kathleen . Finally, props to our sponsors Trali Irish Pub-Morrisville for catering at the field and Hibernian Pub for the lovely and raucous after party.
